Wear denture: pity for the enamel!

Even if it seems hard and tough (in fact, it is the most mineralized tissue of the body), the tooth enamel is more fragile than it seems. Like any relief teeth exposed to erosion and wear, two forms of alteration of tooth surfaces result in what is called a defect. The enamel cloth or enamel wears are thins as a trickle because the enamel is not renewed.

Erosion is a loss of chemical substance, especially as a result of food acidity excess such as fruits and fruit juices, soda, vinegar, lemons and other citrus fruits, ascorbic acid (aspirin). Practices such as repeated laundering add them to a chemical attack on enamel also weakened by wear or loss of mechanical substance such as abrasive toothpaste, hard brushes ... Also an aggressive sandpaper sanding varnish, abrasive toothpastes attack and destroy the enamel are as surely as acids.

Consequence of this defect, the enamel layer too thin does not play a protective role: the teeth become sensitive to hot and cold. Another consequence of this reduction of the enamel layer is yellow teeth and if we yield to the temptation to launder more, we headed for disaster.

"The dental erosion should be considered a disease when it does not correspond to the age of the person," says Dr. Kaleka, dentist, which discourages the use of an abrasive toothpaste more than twice week (which is already a lot).

If our ancestors ended their lives at the age of 40 years with worn teeth to the root cause of flour too abrasive, modern man could end with his teeth in poor condition for different reasons. Indeed, the teeth are now more extensively exposed due to greater longevity.
